Circlip Pliers, External, Straight, 160mm

External circlip pliers with straight tips, 160mm long. External pliers open as the handles close, which is what expands a retaining ring off a shaft; internal pliers work the other way, and the two are not interchangeable. Straight tips are for a circlip you can reach square on, which covers most bench and gearbox work. The tips are the whole tool: they are hardened and ground to fit the circlip eye, and a tip that has splayed will slip out under tension and fire the ring across the workshop. Kennedy is Cromwell's industrial hand tool brand.
